Which form of fasting do we offer?
At Menschels Vitalresort, we offer therapeutic fasting using the Buchinger method.
We are convinced that this fasting cure is very effective. After just a short time, the body adapts to fasting metabolism and benefits sustainably for a better quality of life.
What do you eat when fasting?
Even when fasting, we meet for “meals” but deliberately refrain from eating solid foods and beverages for a limited period of time.
When fasting, consume freshly squeezed fruit juices, vegetable broths, herbal teas and mineral water (250 calories), which provide the body with vitamins and minerals. Honey, milk or soy products, vitamins, minerals or trace elements are added according to individual requirements and medical prescription.
In the case of prolonged fasting or as required by a doctor, the fasting diet is modified or supplemented (e.g. with protein in the form of skimmed milk or soy products).
How long should you fast?
Preventive fasting has a noticeable positive effect on the organism from just 10 days (7-8 fasting days with subsequent buildup days).
For therapeutic fasting, we recommend at least two, or even better three weeks, in order to achieve lasting health improvements.
By giving yourself two days of relief at home with fruit, rice or raw food immediately before the start of your fasting days, you can make it easier for yourself to start fasting and intensify its vital effects.

How is the weight loss during fasting?
Buchinger's (therapeutic) fasting does not focus on weight loss; it is a pleasant side effect of fasting.
On average, weight loss is 300-500 g per day, depending on factors such as physical activity, age or basal metabolic rate.
In the first days of fasting, it is usually even higher due to heavy water excretion.
At least 1 hour of physical activity per day significantly increases the fasting effect, the excretory organs are stimulated, the body deacidifies through increased respiration, blood flow and perspiration. In addition, exercise protects muscle mass and significantly increases metabolic turnover.
In Dr. Menschel's medical practice, body composition is measured with body fat, muscle and connective tissue mass at the beginning and end of fasting therapy.
